Volunteer Researchers - Starting in August 2016 - Beyond Zero Emissions

POSITION: Volunteer researchers

 

LOCATION: The project team is in Melbourne but volunteer researchers can be located anywhere.

 

START DATE: July/August 2016.

 

Beyond Zero Emissions is offering an exciting opportunity to volunteer as researcher. The role will

contribute to the development of the Zero Carbon Australia Industrial Processes Plan. This plan will

explore how energy-intensive industrial processes in Australia can eliminate fossil fuels, maximise

energy efficiency and be powered by renewable energy. It will complement BZE’s Renewable Energy

Superpower Report by showing how, in a zero emissions global economy, Australia could attract

energy intensive industries from overseas.

 

Beyond Zero Emissions is a small, independent not-for- profit that aims to transform Australia into a

21st century, zero carbon economy. We have been ranked in the top ten think tanks in the world to

watch in 2016.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The key responsibilities of the role will be:

 

 Researching technologies to eliminate greenhouse emissions from the manufacture of industrial materials such as steel and cement.

 

 Documenting research

 Working with the Research Manager and other team members.

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

We are looking for candidates who have:

 

 Ability to understand manufacturing processes and innovative technologies

 

 Academic training or industry experience in engineering, particularly materials and chemical engineering

 

 Strong technical research skills with ability to document research in plain English

 

 Ability to work with the BZE team to achieve the project goals

 

 An interest in helping Australia move towards a zero carbon economy.
